Croatia charter

£20 from four people seems a bit tight. I’d be a bit embarrassed to leave that. That’s less than a pound a day each. £100 would seem reasonable £25 each for 7 days wouldn’t be too tight. But you might want to leave nothing if he/she is a complete knob. I’ve been watching a series called Bellow Decks, tips of £20k aren’t unusual. But that’s for a 60m super yacht with a crew of 10.

Looking for advice on appropriate gratuity for skipper of 4-person, one week, cat charter. TIA.
Between 10% and 20% of the charter fee, much like a restaurant with good service.

I have heard (and have zero evidence to support this!) 20-25% of the skipper fee. IIRC they run approx Eur1,000 pw (assuming you are on an average boat up to say 50ft and not a superyacht?!), so Eur200-250. That's approx 50-60 euros pp for the tip.

There's also this http://total-croatia-sailing.com/blog/dont-be-a-d-tip-your-yacht-crew/ which says 15% of the charter fee for good service so frankly, who knows?!

I would guess that is going to be £400 to £800 tip.

Never in a million years is a Yorkshireman going to hand that to anyone. :-(

You have a very valid point.

The OP claims to be from "Bucks": perhaps the prospects of the charter skipper aren't too dismal?
