Hate to p### in everyone's strawberries but I went through recently with absolutely no problems.
Was solo so hired Mickey and his son Davey - they were brilliant - worth every penny. It was a doddle.
Canal looked stunning. Good craic in the Crinan wee bar with everyone from hairy arsed fishermen to toffs. All canal staff friendly and helpful. Midges fearsome!

Good to hear some positivity , going Round the MOK and will travel back via the canal will be short handed is it possible to give the vontact details of your handlers via PM

How's the new booking in advance system working out. What happens if you arrive at crinan sea lock in the middle of the night in a storm and haven't booked.

You will be told to put the Bovril on light up the Hurricane Lamp Drop anchor and ride the Storm out like a good sailor should
But after that no idea , I think the booking system is to manage more boats at one time to save water. and get them through I suspect they still take walk ins but only if you know the Handshake:eek-new:

Just remembered the last time we arrived at the sea lock in the middle of the night the floodlights were totally blinding and we couldn't see a thing. Maybe that's a deliberate ploy.

Crinan Hotel, it is well staffed and run (by W. Scotland standards).

Damning with faint praise. I have had many decades of W Scotland standards, and they can be truly good; but also truly awful. It should be good with UK standards or continental Europe.

Says here the canal will save you from the corryvrekan and the tow path is in great condition.
