Crimping RJ45 onto Raymarine digital radar cable

Has anybody crimped on a new RJ45 plug onto Raymarine digitial radar cable?

I understand from googling that this is not as easy as it seems because the insulation sheaf is too thick to pass into a standard RJ45. I find this surprising as I would have thought it not too difficult to shave it down.

I don't want to experiment with the cable as they cost a fortune - so has anybody else tried?

Solder a wire onto the insulation sheaf (screen) or pare down the screen to the right size to fit into the connector.
