Crewsaver lifejacket help question please?

Hi all I have a question regarding a 275N Crewsaver lifejacket and wonder if anyone has any ideas and could help with suggestions?
My lifejacket along with many other peoples have two plastic press studs at the collar holding the cover onto the bladder.
My problem is one of the press studs has broken leaving the cover at that point flapping about in the wind.
Does anyone have a solution?
I did wonder about trying to stitch some velcro on both parts but would be very difficult and risky because the bladder goes right to the edge of the cover.
Is there anyone that could supply a new press stud or fit same if I removed the existing one?
I can't believe that this situation doesn't happen quite often and wonder how others get over it.
I really don't want to believe it requires to buy a new LJ and shouldn't require sending back to crewsaver even if it was an option. There doesn't seem to be any service agents that I know of. I did email crewsaver about it, asking the question but never even recieved a reply!!

Any ideas?

You can get self adhesive velcro "dots" which might work - but personally I'd replace the jacket (or ask Crewsaver* to depending on its age).

*assuming you are in UK your contract is with the vendor that sold it to you not crewsaver which means they should be a good point of contact to seek redress.

The jacket is well past it's guarantee period ylop but still serviceable in use apart from this stupid press stud. The retailer only supplied it, so it's durability would not be their responsibility. I also don't think the dots would work but thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the input Sandy I had forgotten about spares Marine and they are very local to me, cheers.

I agree the Crewsaver website customer service side is a complete waste of time.

Go to a sail/cover maker and get a new stud. Easy to fit

The jacket is well past it's guarantee period ylop but still serviceable in use apart from this stupid press stud.

If I was responsible for the safety of that jacket I would be wondering, if the stud has come out due to age what else is worn and no longer as strong as when new? Remember you may need to be lifted with all of your weight on the stitching etc.

The retailer is responsible for its quality. If the stud failed because of a latent manufacturing defect then it is their problem, if its legitimate wear and tear then retire the jacket - it’s not like these studs are yanked at every day and so designed to be serviceable components.

I returned an out of warranty life jacket with leak in the bladder to Crewsaver many years ago. At the time they were advertising inspections and repairs at reasonable cost. Quote came back, more expensive than a new jacket.
