Crew that doesnt argue about everything.

Dead Fred. You could put someone’s back out with that!!

Remember being on a dive support ship - first dive of the project when the platform operator calls up to mention that their dead Fred had sunk on their last exercise in case one of the divers found him. The warning came moments too late - one of the divers got a fright.

But perhaps dead Fred should be feature of mob training. Focus the mind on the practicalities of mob recovery

I have used myself in a wetsuit at anchor to train crews in recovery. I have also done that from the dinghy lying on on the bottom. I am big fan of Duncan Wells, Westview Sailing, Lifesavers as the only practical way to get a MOB back onboard with a degree of purity and ease.

MOB Lifesavers | MOB Retrieval for lifejackets

I have no association with Westview beyond being a customer. After trying various systems over the years, this is the one that worked with the least degree of hassle and effort. Of course, you need a backup method if the lifesaver is not fitted t the MOB lifejacket.

Dead Fred is quite affordable, I had always assumed they were very expensive. I might add one to my tool kit if it can be crammed into a bag to reduce space.
