Crew Seekers International

I think you're OK if you're a male looking to crew.

I'm female and answered an ad to crew on the ARC and met a Skipper who had "additional" requirements and wanted a replacement SWMBO. You'd be a lot better off using other sites. Whoever you use be very clear of your requirements and expectations.

Are you reading too much into evidence of practical ability tested by the Yachtmaster Ocean assessment. A few hours under exam conditions recovering soggy fenders and pretening its foggy comes at the Yachmaster Coastal Stage. At Yachtmaster Offshore you are expect to do similar things but with more polish. For Yachtmaster Ocean you just do a written/oral assessment based on the Ocean passage/passages you choose to submit. How does that "help to show that all the significant core skills have been demonstrated in a formal setting", apart from going through the sun sights you have taken?

Well you do have to have your Offshore ticket to be assessed as Ocean.

It means you have been assessed to be 'experienced and competent to skipper a yacht on passages of any length in all parts of the world'.

Not bad.

Reviving an old thread, but some interesting comments on here. I used Crewseekers quite a bit last year. I think the fact the crewseekers have paid £90 to join shows some commitment. I think it's more usefull for finding recently qualified YM Offshores looking to crew rather than 50,000nm skippers. That is how I used it, to boost my experience while qualifying, first by getting cheap trips and then getting expenses paid on a pro delivery.

I am about to finish work for the winter and want to find crew or mate delivery jobs, unpaid, but with expenses paid. The aim is to get a good few thousand miles over the next 9 months then take the Ocean exam

I am interested in what sites others use, besides Crewseekers?
