Crew rescued from ship fire at sea off Lowestoft
Three sailors were winched to safety by a rescue helicopter when their ship caught fire at sea.
The men had abandoned the ECC Topaz and managed to get into a life raft after the fire took hold about 10 miles off the coast at Lowestoft, Suffolk.
A helicopter from RAF Wattisham took them to hospital as a precaution on Tuesday afternoon. They are not believed to have been seriously hurt.
The craft, which was en route to a wind farm, is believed to have sunk.
Graham Dawson, watch manager at Humber Coastguard, said: "The fire was quite severe and the crew had no option but to abandon the vessel.
"The crew had the correct lifesaving equipment and rescue resources were quickly on scene."
