Due to an illness in the family it looks like my crew member for the MBM Cherbourg trip cant make it , so if anyone is interested, we leave this Saturday and return next Saturday, I have a 40 ft Princess 360 Flybridge fully equiped and ready to go, all costs to be split 50/50 ie. entry fee , fuel and berthing. if your intereseted email me on ia3@alangibson.com.

Ian.

So you want a crew member but they pay half of all your costs? Doesn't sound like a very tempting offer /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This would probably appeal to many more people if they didn't have to pay for helping you out of a spot!

I wonder if your family member had to pay half?

Hope you find someone and good luck and enjoy the trip.

then they dont have to come ,i have plenty of friends who would come on a freebie but i cant afford to fund the trip on my own, i was aiming it at someone who would like a holiday but maybe doesnt have a boat who would enjoy the experience, if they chatered a boat i would cost them thousands.

Well I for one would have loved to come on that deal but afraid away on a slightly bigger ship this weekend ..................The QE2 no less! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: visit to QE2

Mini cruise with family (I'm sure with an option to buy) to Gurensey and guess where Dom is going to be?

Jersey!!! - I made a mistake by mentioning it to him as gave him ability to escape the island!

I will be the saddo up on deck with my GPS/laptop plotter etc.......

Can't afford the trip but own a Princess 40'??? Now that's sad.

You could always get a stick and rag! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Regards.

it was my friends family member who is unwell not mine. christ this forum is full of ............. what happenened to good ole days where people we helpful.

Suspect that the trouble here Ian is that initial posts often don't contain enough background info so people's replies are based on assumptions.

For what it's worth, I'd have loved to have come along and wouldn't have minded contributing. It would have given me the taste of such a trip to see if I'd want to do it on my own boat in the future.
BUT I'm off with some raggie friends in the Aegean next week.

Hope you manage to find someone.

I think its a great opportunity for someone, wish I had the time.
Why should anyone taking up an offer to spend a weeks holiday onboard a great boat expect to get it for free. They should be greatfull of the experience and be more than willing to cough up there share.
Ian

Must be a Princess thing I expect.

TRUE STORY
A mate of mine with a Princess 42 charged two crew for a delivery trip.
They got lost between Dover and the Solent, the Coast Guard stopped them and wanted to know why they were heading across the TSS at the wrong angle. I saw the GPS plot, unbelievable.

On arrival Skipper 'Sparky' joined me on my boat for a beer while his GUESTS scrubbed his boat.
We then went for fish and chips which he ate before returning without provisions to his GUESTS who were still cleaning.

Sparky even complained they had taken one of his Cokes out the fridge.
(with all that free water around)

Joking apart I agree that an opportunity to have a holiday in France has to be worth a little help towards the costs. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
