Crew Insurance for Atlantic Crossing

Looking for recommendations. We are a couple jumping onboard a friends yacht to cross the Atlantic. 2-3 weeks at sea.

Have searched but most don't want to cover the Atlantic/Carribean or literally more than 12 miles offshore

Advice and recommendations please.

We used to use Insure and Go long stay policy, they covered coastal sailing and scuba as standard and would add offshore for specific dates at extra premium. Search and rescue wasn't covered but medical evacuation was so, we worked on the theory that as long as our position known, no "search" content.

It is up to the skipper/owner to insure their vessel.

Many insurance companies are not keen, but try Topsail they advertise in Flying Fish the house magazine of the Ocean Cruising Club and should be interested in your business as you are not single handed.

What are you insuring against?

I’ve used topsail insurance, for multi voyages in a year as well as land based holidays. I never had to make a claim but Topsail was recommended by a delivery skipper who had known of good experiences with them
