Hello Forum,
This is my first post. Sorry if what I’m asking is common knowledge.
Can any of you give me advice about using crew finder websites?
I found this one and a couple others by Google searching. I am most inclined to trust this one (although that is based only on the possibly shaky premise that I enjoy reading PBO and YM magazines so it’s probably OK).
My question is: are these sites good places to look for sailing opportunities?
Really I am thinking ahead to next season now.
What are the common pitfalls of using forums to find sailing opportunities on other people’s boats?
Are there any things that I could do to increase my chances of finding pleasant sailing trips to be part of?
What have your experiences been?
Thanks for anything that you can tell me.

None. I've sailed with a fair few people I didn't know from Adam including a couple from YBW and so far everyone has been wonderful.

Always wash up.

If you're in the Solent area you could consider:

I have no experience of crewfinder websites, but I know that if you post on here looking to crew, skippers appreciate information such as your age, sailing experience, location, availability, smoker/non smoker. There are many boat owners, including myself, who will offer crewing opportunities, but they like to know something about the would-be crew first.
