Not getting as much sailing in as I'd like and I really need more experience. Have you got room for me on your boat? Racing or cruising, I don't mind which.

In return, I'm very friendly, make cakes that are *almost* always verging on edible... oh, and I'm fine with jumping in with a snorkel to sort out wayward plastic bags round the prop. Happy to help giving barnacles a scrub/winter maintenance as well. Would that be a fair deal?

I can highly recommend saying hello to the friendly folk of Brighton Belle: http://brightonbelle.org/

They're a club that owns a ketch rigged Oyster 55 and always happy to accept guests (which they will try to recruit into members). You'd be sailing with an interesting mix of sailors of all skill levels, including some very experienced ones (which usually do the skippering).

Brighton Belle is currently in Gosport for a month (where she can be sailed from) but should return to Brighton thereafter.

I also might have some crewing opportunities on my own boat (40 foot sloop) later this year after the refit. Until then, I only have opportunities to bang on stuff, get dirty and shoot pressurized bilge water up my nose (don't ask).

Thanks so much for the info. At £4,000 I don't think they'll have much of a chance recruiting me as a member, but I'll bear them in mind should I win on a scratchcard or something.

Happy to come and help with the nasal waterjets,if you need an extra pair of hands? It's all boats, it's all learning...

I suppose nowhere's too far as long as I'd have time to get there from work, get back again for work, and have some sail time in between. :)

I'm doing a trip to France in company with a few other boats somewhere between 16 and 25 September. Leaving and returning from the Medway. I would do it single handed but my electric autohelm has packed it in, so someone on the tiller while I put out lines and fenders entering harbour would be useful.
Rival 34 leaving from Gillingham on the Medway probably stopping at either Ramsgate or Dover and then either Gravelines, Dunkerque or Boulogne.
PM me if interested.
