This looks like it is being sorted but one way of scaring the banks into action is to write to the Chairman of RBS. He will have a squad of folk handling this sort of stuff. Explain that the bank doesn't seem to want to know (quoting people where possible) and even if the matter is now being sorted, you are left exhausted by the process, out of pocket due to time and expenses trying to sort it and your relationship with RBS seems to be permanently damaged. If use use the magic word 'ombudsman' in the letter you will probably get a very speedy response and maybe a small cheque to help mend the damage. Banks are getting very nervous about complaints and complaint handling. Press the right buttons and see what happens. Good luck!

Similar thing happened to me with RBS. Got no where complaining to them. Closed a quite active business account with them (always in credit AND paying charges). They never even asked why.
