Crap weather, is it worth going to the boat this weekend?

May find some shelter in the harbour, Solent probably a waste of time, I'm currently sat about 1/4 mile north of Lymington Haven and it's windy, heavy gusts, and quite overcast, if today's anything to go by...

As you mention Saturdays not brilliant but Sunday is looking good, I'm going to be out and about again for that last blast in the harbour (but slowing down going thru the entrance)

Typical, I'm supposed to be moving to Port Solent, via the Hamble this Saturday. I notice they've forecast a brisk NNW. I'm hoping it won't be too lumpy if I stay in close, in the shelter and pass Hurst castle on slacks.

You should have gone last weekend, I was out and about, went across to Newtown Creek for a few hours then onto Ocean Village for the night. Had a great trip both ways, was going to post pictures on here but just haven't managed to find the time.

I know, work screwed last weekend sadly. I'm anxious to say the least about moving it this Saturday. I hate 'having' to make a passage. Main concern is, it's not moved all winter and has not been serviced yet, hence it's off to the Hamble for Col to sort it out for me.

What do you think Steve, do you think it will be okay hugging the cliffs on the way up to the Solent or would you postpone?

Ah reasonable size then. In my view, if the weather is to be believed, it's 15mph and 38 gusts. It's slowing down so choose pm. I "think" you'll be fine. Be sure to check the tide, the Solent has a wierd flow with tide and you can make great use of the tide as you go...I can check my charts here and give you a good time if you like.

Sorry if I'm teaching gran to suck eggs!

Twin or single engine?

I've done the trip countless times and normally wouldn't be too concerned. Experience tells me that Bournemouth and Christchurch bays aren't too bad in a NNW. It's just the fact that the boat hasn't moved since last September and the conditions are not going to be favorable. I think i'll head out on the 12.30 bridge spend a bit of time running it up and down the harbour and if all's well poke my nose out of the harbour to see what it's like.

I'll get the charts, almanac and cumberlidge out tonight to knock up a plan that gets me to Hurst Castle dead on slacks.

I had only looked on BBC forecast which looked OK, then went on wind guru, oh bugger 20kt wind, so plan B, wait and see what it's like on the day then go out anyway.
