I use a pumice on water-softened, soaped skin, followed by Lotil (any pharmacist). Plus Lotil at night and first thing in the morning as well if not showering.

Germolene "New Skin" sounds good but nobody recommends Superglue!

The Germolene stuff is a brilliant fix (imho) for when you want some quick relief or need to stop bleeding, but it doesn't solve the underlying cause of the cracking - which is no doubt best addressed by the various recommended creams an' stuff to soften the skin.
I know that Superglue is used by some surgeons, and I have tried it (once) on heel cracks. The main problem I found is that the stuff sets very hard and inflexible: the glue joint eventually cracks and presents hard edges which cause more pain and bleeding.
By all means try it - but I think softness and flexibility is the key.
If anyone knows of a long-term cure - like a dietary supplement - I'm all ears ...
I read somewhere recently that a good cure for athlete's foot is to pee on your feet while you're waiting for the shower to come warm. Perhaps that would cure 2 problems at once if you were so afflicted?
Sorry Kilter but it wasn't something i've tried, i exfoliate then massage with cocoa butter. I was wondering if chapped.........no best not go there /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
