If you are into steam railways the IOW steam railway webcam is interesting esp on days when two trains are running

You know you are hooked when you start looking up the loco roster to see which ones are running and the timetable so that you can watch them arrive and depart from Havenstreet.

The view over the Solent from All Saints Church is a good one too. If you see anything interesting you can go to an AIS site to identify it.

It's ages since I was on the IoWR, but I remember it fondly because they used (and I think still use) some stunningly restored Victorian carriages instead of the usual manky old BR MK1s you find on most preserved lines. Memo to self: go back some time.

Have I got this right? At LW Springs, on a particularly low tide, say 0.2 mtrs, that they'll be 0.7 over the chain?

Isn't that a bit of a disaster for Cowes?

Indeed, my draft is 0.8mtrs. Moving to IOW tomorrow to live, boat in the big shed in Bembridge and not yet sure where I'll keep her, but knowing this perhaps not the Medina!

To be honest, with that draught the restriction will be minimal - only around 15 days this year (mostly around equinoctial springs) and only for an hour or two around low water. Note that the figure currently given of height of tide +0.5m is a safe clearance, not a figure at which you would ground on the chains.
 
Floating bridge not in service again today until around 0745.

Cannot blame the weather / high winds this morning ....... f1 at Bramblemet!
