Cowes fireworks

Jolly good I am down there next Friday ! Will pm you if I am around for a cup of the pink stuff !aybe the week after though.

Sadly only here for a couple of days; next due down on 24th (although in fairness I might be down before then, I only booked this one two days ago). Keep in touch - be good to see you.

We went in the end, quite good though very dark on the way back and the engine temperature went a little high when the revs got above 3000 to add to the fun! Was okay when I dropped the revs and we made it back eventually.

Got the bus from Yarmouth. Got soaked. At 9.50, asked soaked policeman why everyone was walking in the other direction to us "fireworks finished". We thought they were 10pm..... still, the band were good in the Anchor.

Typhoon was excellent. I was anchored there but missed most of the fireworks because, as the tide changed, it caused tens of boats to get together in groups of two or three, and loads of people pulling up other people's anchors. Also had some seasick guests to attend to. Now safely moored up on the visitor pontoon, hopefully tomorrow will have less drama...

We were going for 7 to see the planes but went a bit later. Anchored north of RYS. Every boat lying a different way so took two attempts to anchor but got a good spot in the end. Fireworks good but most of us viewed them from inside.

I'm having a real problem with the forecasters this year. I'd love to see accuracy stats but they seem to be getting worse. It rained solid and that's not what the forecast said.

Trip back was miserable. With 15 on board there were too many distractions and with the conditions I decided it safer to be up on the fly. I wished the trip away :(

We uncovered our flybridge just before the rain started so we drove from downstairs. Did consider going back up there when we got back to Gosport because I couldn't see a thing!

Glad we didn't make it going by the comments, doesn't sound like much fun. Not as unfortunate as the yachty we've been watching this morning having what looks like a watch recovered by divers, guess it went overboard last night when they got back soaked to the skin

We berthed overnight in Cowes Yacht Haven. Typhoon was awesome.......afterburners against the gloomy sky made a very impressive picture. Red Arrows fantastic as always. The atmosphere ashore was brilliant. All racing on Friday cancelled due to lack of wind so crews had been on the loopy juice since midday!!. Fireworks pretty impressive too. Thanks to Ben and his crew at CYH for helping make a good day....... brilliant!!
