I hope Time Inc won't mind me repeating this here.

Last Friday 8th August there was a dreadful accident involving a crew member on the Cowes chain ferry, when he was run over into the ferry gates and prow, causing ' life changing ' leg and head injuries.

Theo was 1 year before retirement, I met him shortly before the accident and a more affable and helpful chap one could not wish to meet.

A collection for him is being run by the lady at

Theo's injuries are currently listed as ' serious but stable ' - from what I heard from his friends he needs all the help he can get, so please show we boat owners care.

Thanks Elessar,

hope this link does the trick;

I don't want to say too many details here, but I heard the same thing from all Theo's colleagues and it's pretty serious.

I have been a pedestrian on the ' Floating Bridge ' for years, never imagined anything like this happening; like a lot of us I suppose.

I have just heard the latest from Angie, who is organising the collection for Theo; he is out of danger but very badly hurt, only close family allowed to see him.

A lot of us use the Cowes Floating Bridge chain ferry, please come on on and see if you lot can outdo us yotties, Theo and his family are going to need all the help they can get...
