The plan I have is to take a ferry to Caen next week, drive to where our boat is laid up ashore in Brittany, spend 2 or 3 nights in a B&B while getting her ready to launch, launch her, move on board and sail off around various ports and harbours in Quiberon Bay for about a month.

Obviously we don't know what might happen in future but as things stand at the moment, can anyone tell me, please, will the current Covid restrictions in France prevent us doing this?

nb We accept that we will have to quarantine for 14 days after we return to the UK. A month's sailing in return for a fortnight's quarantine seems an acceptable deal!

Inside France everything is normal right now.

The bars are packed, it appears that some establishments permit their regular patrons to wear their masks around their necks. ?

Hurrying to the capitainerie and the chandlery, on separate occasions this week, I forgot my mask and was not scolded during my short visits.

In the paper this morning, Brittany Ferries has stopped a lot of crossings.
Many major towns are requiring masks on the street, but unlikely to affect you in that corner of Brittany.

We are in St Vaast and the town is the busiest I have ever seen it in over 20 years of having a house here. The restaurants are packed and a reservation is necessary. The shops are all insisting on masks but surprisingly not in the Saturday market although a fair number of people are wearing them. The visitor Pontoons here are not full by any stretch and we were in Cherbourg a couple of days ago & again plenty of room. As expected not many Brits but a few German, Dutch and of course French visitors.

No, they will not.
That is correct. France will not introduce anything which compels visitors from the UK to quarantine in France upon arrival. Why would they cut off their noses to spite their face? UK visitors are a massive source of income and their economy is already suffering.

I'm off to France, Belgium, Austria and Croatia in a couple of weeks and will be welcomed over there even though they are all now quarantine countries. I'll deal with the situation in the UK when I get back. ;)

We've been on passage through the Normandy ports, and now cruising locally in north Brittany, since early July. Have been asked previous port once, in Honfleur. No one has asked when we arrived in France. No suggestion of quarantines for Brits - and much incredulity (not only from the French but also Belgian and Dutch crews) at the UK re-imposing one. If anything, the welcome here has been even more hospitable than on previous visits. Which is saying something.

Mask wearing seems to be increasing over time. When we arrived in Boulogne no one was wearing one outdoors and few were in shops. Its now mandatory in shops, where compliance is high.By the time we got to Roscoff masks were occasionally being worn on the street. In Paimpol today about two thirds of people in the, quite crowded, old quarter are wearing masks on the street.

Our house is in Carnac and the everyone is wearing a mask. La Trinite has compulsory mask wearing on the high street and the municipal police are enforcing it. France is going to wait until the rentrée before clamping down even more. Paris numbers are high and where I am working I'm expecting to be told to télétravail rather than come into the office in September. I don't think Macron will do another full lockdown though

A full national lockdown is now off the cards.
Previous PM said as much and Macron confirmed this in his 14th Juillet speech.
However, regional or departemental lockdowns are still an option.

Think I saw that Macron didn't believe that the French would comply with a full lockdown, so looking to work with masks etc. Looking about, about 1/3 are concerned, so expecting problems.

Whether it's important to you or not I don't know, but the current official guidance is "The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to France (including Corsica). " we are a wide bunch of views here, some will take note of that, and others won't... the holiday company I was going to France next week with, immediately cancelled my holiday the moment that guidance was given/updated..

We're off to Arzal on the 10th for a month too, all seems relatively qiuet viruswise in that area except perhaps Quiberon itself
