Want to fit a 2006 or 2010 chartplotter for use inside & out. Garmin sell a 2nd station kit with bracket & cables...but according to them there are no blanking caps to cover the plug when the outside station is not in use (seems a bit odd for a fully waterproof unit that may be fitted outside).

Has anyone got one of these & found suitable covers? or is it buy waterpoof plugs & sockets to connect the garmin cable to?

Had this problem before with Garmin plugs on a GPS. After loads of shopping around and brain storming, had to settle for small plastic bag and elastic band. Fortunately it was mounted under the spray hood and only unplugged when not in attendance....

Thanks for the info.- you can't be the only one who's had to use plastic bags....

Waiting for definitive "no" from garmin usa, then will likely buy extra w/proof conn's & remove the garmin loom at the same time as the unit.

I had this problem on a Fish Finder that I use as a depth guage.

There are two plugs, one for the transponder & the other for elecee.
They come thru a waterproof deck gland. When I remove the instrument for safety, I cover the plugs with self stick electrical tape (not to sure what its called, it has a peel off plastic strip), which is brill as it only sticks to itself & not the plugs.

Much better than plastic bags, no humidity or air.
