Good elderly mast anodised gold. It and the boom have a number of places where a scratch or a micro-impact has broken the surface of the anodising, and little patches of white corrosion are evident.

I don't believe that Duralac is the right product for this use, so what is the best way of covering up these patches please ?

Anything which ends up lime green or pink would not be welcome :)

It sounds as if you want to retain the anodised finish. I don't know how you can achieve that. I think at some point you will decide to paint the mast and boom. In that case you clean up the corrosion and apply a corrosion treatment like alodine then under coat and finish coat. I have always painted my mast and boom with ordinary enamel paint which I like because i can touch it up each winter as mast is always being scratched by wire and rope halyards and things. good luck olewill

Many years ago I had a Vivacity whose mast and boom were well on the way to becoming really tatty. In intially they were anodised silver but were well past their prime. My solution, back in 1994 or so, was cheap and cheerful but gave very good results: I painted them with black Hammerite. The man who bought the boat is still my friend, still has the Viv and the mast and boom are still black and look smart.

In the old days, you might have been able to use some sort of chromate based treatment, but that's banned now.
Epoxy is probably as good as anything, it will go yellow in sunlight and fail eventually, but it's tough and it sticks well.
A uv-proof varnish if you've got a pot handy?
2 pack polyurethane would be proper, either clear or white.
If it's a place that repeatedly gets wear, stick some tape or fablon on it?
Maybe the tacky carbon-look stuff favoured by boi racers?

I do my dinghy masts with wax polish. It cleans, slows corrosion and resists dirt a little, as well as hopefully letting the jib and kite slide over it more easily.

I do have a mate who does DIY anodizing. A mast is a bit big...

I have found Hammerite (for Alu) surprisingly good for a black anodised mast. Not sure if they do a gold colour.

Some new ideas there for me to follow up. Thanks.

Has anyone tried those little adhesive backed stainless steel rubbing patches on a mast or boom please ?

Yes.
But it was a carbon mast so probably no help!
It did work well FWIW.
