I recently got hold of an old sewing machine with a view to doing some canvas work for the boat. My first attempt was this cover for the tillerpilot, which has proved itself to be not particularly waterproof. The material is similar to the stuff used for rucksacks. The material and the plastic for the window plus the velcro for the closure at the end came from a local fabric supplier and was all pretty cheap. It is not perfect but I'm quite pleased with it for a first attempt. It was all made inside out and held together with double sided tape and a few pins for assembly. I suppose it took a few hours altogether as I had to work out how to use the machine. It was a nice easy job to do whilst my hand recovers from surgery.

I borrowed the Missus' sewing machine to sew up a new trampoline for my catamaran.

It was far too heavy duty material for the machine and the costs or servicing the machine afterwards far outstripped the amount saved

Looks good- do you get condensation inside it?

My version last week was an clear A4 document sleeve with a hole for the ram and a posties elastic band to hold it onto the main body. Did mist up overnight so removed before storage

I've only just made it so it is too early to tell.

I left it in the rain for half an hour then poured a couple of kettles of water over it and didn't find any water inside.
