Just been ringing around a few east coast cover/sailmakers and Suffolk Sailing is markedly cheaper (30-50%) than the others. Should I be nervous? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
If it's Suffolk Sails in Woodbridge (Simon) then certainly don't be even slightly nervous - they are excellent. They made the sails for my last boat, and have done an annual sails valetting for us for the last decade. We're very satisfied customers.
I can't imagine it's Suffolk Sailing in Claydon (Graham) , who are also excellent, but supply / service liferafts, inflatibles etc. (We're also very satisfied customers there).
Sorry my error, I do mean Suffolk Sails in Woodbridge, who were recommended, but just a bit (pleasantly) surprised by the price they quoted! I think I might be taking a sail (or two) to them this weekend.
I'm pretty sure they do. For various reason all our acrylic (& we have loads - cockpit tent etc) is from Nick Mussett on West Mersea, who's very good. Nick has always been the best value when we've had quotes before, but by the sound of it Suffolk Sails are now very competitive too, and keen to take on work. That wasn't always the case before Simon took over the business, but he is very customer oriented indeed.
We have had some problems with the batten cars on the mainsail system on our "new" boat, and Simon can't do enough to help us.
They made Roach's very good cockpit cover and do all my sail repairs. I highly recommend them, although strangely for an all over anti-bird pooh cover they quoted me several thousand pounds at which point I abondoned the idea.
