Courrier wants to carry mast on boat itself during transport?

Where else would you carry mast ?-up atop the boat it makes the transport far less likely to wellie the mast against a wall on a bend or have a passing pedestrian swept of the pavement! Or a following motorist speared on the end!

Sometimes you have to put it on the bed to keep within the height limits. Proper boat transport trailers are set up to do this and have extendable tail boards so that nothing overhangs at the rear.

I think if Foxs do everything for me they will charge £1000 There is probably some fee to get out the gate lol....:) Be worth it.

Oh for goodness sakes - just sail her!!!!!!!!! Boat and road don't mix unless have to. Fab survey. Nice spec. Some well over the top advice on here about stripping her down and replacing stuff - couple of day sails will tell you all you need to know. Confused over fuel tank size from all the messages but you have lockers so get a few 20l cans. You also know people who know how to sail; I even volunteered to help. You have said you have the time.

Why this is such a drama is beyond me; just bloody do it!

Maybe I am a little emotional over the loss of CF, but the journey you are planning is not hard and not relatively risky. Bit of trialling and bit of planning.

Am I alone on this view?

She cant be sailed as far as I can see till the sail-drive rubber and gaiter are replaced. Or so I'm told again and I can only take advice.

I went on board this week with my Engineering Manager to view the boat and it actually has an old Volvo leg and not a Beta Marine one therefore the leg Diaphragm will need to be changed and it looks like the inner ring will need to be changed as well as its so rusty, we can check it when its out to be sure.

The slightly grey area is the fixings for the inner saildrive ring which look badly corroded and may well shear off which will cause a bit more work.

We looked round the engine and leg while we were there so you will see further costs for items we would suggest you have done while the engine is out, at least then you will know that the engine side has been done and checked.
From Foxs

If you pay Fox's to strip it all down, you will have to pay Dickies to set it up again & will know nothing about how to do it next time. Do it yourself & you will KNOW exactly what is what. that could be really useful when something chooses to fail one day.

That surveyor is covering his ass because it costs him nothing for you to replace it. Carry a spare & watch it like a hawk for any signs of a leak of cracking. It's easy enough to check (or replace) in N Wales, the tide drops 25-30' twice a day & if you have a spare in the locker you can do it almost anywhere.

You have clearly never done this job, otherwise you would not have made such a suggestion!
