Courier Collection

I've used both Parcelmonkey and Parcel2go in the past, and both worked fine. If you use them to book Parcelforce you get it a LOT cheaper than going down to the Post Office, or even doing it direct.

Beyond that it depends on what the local people are like for each courier at each end. For example, Yodel and HDN are rubbish near me, but CityLink and Parcelforce are fine. The big advantage of Parcelforce is that if they miss me I can go to my local post office, three miles away.
 
Don't see why this is scuttlebutt. People on here are often sending or receiving. I personally don't object to any forum user raising questions about any of their problems (excluding relationships, medical or other things that blokes don't talk about of course)

The weight isnt that critical, get the volume dims accurately, the can be done for small items easily on the kitchen scales even if one has to substitute weights with bags of sugar
 
I'm just trying to arrange to send some stuff to Sardinia. I'm using parcel2go which has been recommended to me. It keeps bowling me curved balls though - the latest is 'what is the recipient's phone number?' Aaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll get there in the end though

In many countries their address system leaves a lot to be desired and carriers need a working phone to find out exactly where to deliver to. Once i Portugal I had o arrange to meet the courier in a supermarket car park.

In general I use My Hermes cheap and cheerful and seem to work well most of the time. Only had one parcel go astray and they did pay up. They do a pickup service for only £1 and their tracking system seems OK. Some people I have sold stuff to have been impressed with the standard of service.

I have taken to use Hermes the item is only covered if "signed for"

I've thought that sometimes. In this case, the seller is non-computer-literate and used a friend to put the item on eBay. We have had three or four telephone conversations and he has been immensely helpful and friendly. He certainly didn't do it out of laziness.

PS The seller also has a suit of nearly new laminate sails for a Starlight 30 for sale at a very reasonable price.
