Edit: 260K??? That buys a very nice yacht. This does sound like a major lack of interest from the builders, who, rightly, got caned. all IMHO, of course.

I think Discovery definitely get a "Could have done better" on their report card for efforts to fix the yacht, but all that wasn't helped by the owner's decision to set out before snagging was completed. Much of the damage does seem to be due to that precipitous departure - a bumpy cross-channel crossing should have found the issues and allowed them to be fixed before everything got soaked.

I can't help wondering if the size of the claim and, especially, the amount of legal fees weren't a bit maxed out, which has backfired. A smaller claim might have been paid; now they've got is a huge legal bill that they'll presumably have to pay and a broken yacht.
