Answer to both previous posts similar........In that power transmission path is by via separate layshaft in position B, packaging constraints often limits gear sizes resulting in meshing discrepancy between A and B due to longer transmission path.
As to effect on fuel consumption suggest difference due to longer power transmission path is no more than 1% between A&B, suprised if ZF Nottingham made such a comment, only person there qualified to make such a statement is Adrian Licence.
