reaching the end of the boating season and covering some 8500+ nautical miles since leaving Poole last June I have captained my current command a Sunseeker Predator 92s through a large part of the Med this year even visiting a tiny Island Pantaleria some 150 nm East of Malta.

During the trip back from Sardinia to Malta I got into discussion with the owner regarding the posibilities of upgrading the boat for season 2012 we together set out some outlines the baot must be as big as the pred 92s but idealy bigger but no bigger than 35m to keep crew levels same. Performance we liked and having 40 knots on tap at the moment can we get more??? We decided that I would make contact with a few yards and see what could be on offer as an upgrade so a day on the phone was spent chatting to builders looking for the ideal new sea going space ship. All responces were much the same until I received an email and a phone chat from Pershing which blew me away.

EXTRACT FROM EMAIL RE PERFORMANCE OF THE PERSHING 115GT

(In terms of performance the standard version (2 x 3700hp MTU) generates speeds just over 40 kts, whilst the GT version (2 x 3700hp MTU + 5000hp Gas Turbine) boosts her top speed to over 50 kts!)

I am just blown away at how all this works!! is this to say that at 40 knots you kick in a virtual jet engine, this is all very serious stuff as the point is that the 3rd engine aparently runs very economicaly and gives 5000 horses. I am promised a look at one at the Canns show just can't wait, just seems so compleatly over the top with wow factor.

A P115GT? Wow!
I'd love to have the opportunity to try one.
Otoh, if after buying one, while trying it at WOT, I would be easily overtaken by a vessel like this...
...boys, would I be pissed!

yes quite right re the position of Pantaleria. and I would not sugest to anybody that it's a great place to visit. No beaches no marinas. With regard to Perching Vs Predator I think we have the best alrounder at the moment and thats why it would be difficult to find a boat that will give more for the money.

The pred has given us 8500 miles with little trouble well lets say that boats of this size always seem to have a big snag list but all relative to the amount of kit fitted. we get a fast cruise range of around 400 miles which covers anyware we would want to go in the med a top speed near on 40 knots and just about the right amount of room onboard for 10 persons not to be ontop of each other. The pershing 115 will be virtualy 3x the money and I'm not sure until I walk round one and test it at sea if it will be a better boat it would nave to be B----y good to beat the pred considering the extra money. Personaly if Sunseeker were still building 92s I would go for another 92 but with a few changes to layout. So I have a very open mind on both the Perching looks and sounds amazing but although a 50Knot plus boat will it be a good alrounder as the Pred has prooven to be.
