Could this be the future of motor boating?

No it is about the amount of space you take up. I only use one boat at a time so will use about 20 ft max of length. The other boats are at home on my property. The water is shared space and big boat owners simply think they are entitled to more of the shared space than others. It is simply greed. Deny it all you want it is true. These same people also often don’t like to be told the truth
20’ times 15 boats = 300’ of boats ?

My sister rents one in the Caribbean every winter.

They never enter a port just so a round the islands anchoring. Hire boat so no issues about leaving it on anchor. They did the same in mallorca a few years ago ( moorings has now closed

for the kind of boating it works but the mooring hassle would stop me owning one.

Some people on here are a total pain and to be honest have an inflated view of their own values, it is the main reason many contributors and forum members have left in recent years. I am mainly a lurker reading the various threads but when I see comments like above I think why do I bother.

If that's a polite way of saying f**k the begrudgers then I'm with you all the way.

I wouldn't ignore form completely but the function (as in meeting my requirements) is a higher priority to me. I don't care how wonderful it looks if it doesn't work for me, on the other hand when several work for me I'd definitely take the best looking. Good looking includes a beautiful price tag ;)

Why are you suddenly againist anyone with a bigger boat than the largest of your fleet ?
Do u have the same thoughts on cars, camper and caravans and houses?
Entitlement is a buzz word at the moment but doesn't mean you have to find a way of using it

'Suddenly'? You must be new here. :D

Usual socialist claptrappery - everything he has is fine and fair, it's just people who have more than him who are 'entitled' and 'greedy'. Funny that...

Absolutely correct....no matter where you are in the food chain if you are looking enviously at someone higher up...you can be sure that someone lower down is eyeing you exactly the same way..

Am I the only one who is happy and content with what I have, who could upgrade if I wanted to, but doesn't think the overall math and consequences are worth it?

I can certainly appreciate what others have but am not envious of their joys as I don't know their sorrows.
I am also not envious of their ‘joys’....just of their toys..?

No I don't think so. Most normal people are happy for others to enjoy the fruits of their success, even if they are more successful.

Absolutely
