Has anyone tried using cot mattresses for bunks.Pucca boat mattresses are very expensive and I am thinking two may suffice for a full length bunk. There often water resistence which could be a bonus! I havent done the measurements yet I just wondered if any one out there had tried it with any sucess?

Could be a good solution. Mind you, I weigh a bit more than a baby. Let us know how you get on, please.

I think you may have a problem with the foam density using a cot matress as mentioned above. They will be too soft for an adult and you will find you have been lowered onto the surface below as you sleep.

Cot mattress far too thin I think

Recently I bought some foam/memory foam mattresses off ebay ( new ) 6 inch thick ( 5+1. ) to replace my tired 4 inch thick ones. They came with plain covers and free pillows. Medium firm, very comfortable and 1/2 the price I was quoted for foam cut to spec.

Cut down to match the forepeak the whole job cost about £120. ( main mattress, triangle right in the bow and a 500mm square seat cushion. )

Thanks for your comments, I just happened to see two 6ftx2ft mattresses in my local cat and rabbit charity shop which I bought for £3 each and they fit the bill nicely. The useful charity shop is in east wittering west sussex.
