Anybody got any ball parks for replacement of Standing rigging on a 29 foot boat - single mast. I'm thinking shrouds, forestay, backstay terminals. Are we talking 100's or 1000's?

100's, not 1000's.
Spread the cost by replacing a pair each year. ie. Uppers this year, lowers next, backstays the following year, etc. Insurance companies love it when you tell them you've been replacing shrouds. They also have guidelines for frequency depending on the sort of sailing you do.
Don't forget to inspect toggles, turnbuckles and chainplates for hairline cracks or distortion. If in doubt, replace.

As Mariposa says 100's up to one 1000 ish. Shroud wire is about £5 or £6 per metre. End bits about £60 plus per shroud depending on swage/swageless fittings. Have a look at S3i website for actual details and make up costs.

The standing rigging on my 27 foot boat costs about £300... + labour if you are not doing it yourself. That's presuming you are not changing the headsail furling gear.

Just got a quote for all stays on my Macwester26; £400 all in, including new turnbuckles, from a rigger at the sailing club. (Essex)

That sounds cheap - which SC are you at - not Wivenhoe I assume. I'm getting a quote from Morgans at B'sea

As Duncan says, also depends on whether you are replacing the turnbuckles. Did a 27ft boat about 4 years ago and cost for 2 shrouds, 2 inners, backstay, forestay plus four new turnbuckles was less than £1000 but not much.

Just been quoted £1400 for a 39 foot sloop (two spreader rig) for replacing the whole lot from the chainplates upwards.
The SSB isolators for the backstay are mega expensive though - I'm thinking again about that!

I paid £650.00 in 2005 for Supplying and Fitting Forestay, Backstay Pair upper shrouds and 2 pairs lower shrouds on a 23 footer including labour plus £120 for mast craneage in and out. Including replacing tunbuckles as well.

£600 + VAT for all standing rigging & rigging screws for UFO 31 in 2005.
Done over winter so no costs for cranage.

My one off 29' (with outer stays, diamonds and lowers) and standard forestay and backstay was £600 cash for all fittings a couple of months ago. (XW Rigging, Haslar)..
Furling gear may need parts replacing depending on the setup which could therfore add to the costs.
Depending on the rigs stability will change whether or not the rigging can be changed with the mast up or not.. riggers charge less if the mast is down but craning a mast out and back in costs about £200 ish...
