Bank holiday weekend on Lough Derg was like the Med. Friday and Saturday awesome weather. Sun came back on Sunday at noon after a grey start.
Took the canopy off and flew the boys blue flag!
Well done Leinster!
The lough was like a mill pond under blue skies and radient sunshine. Barefoot and shorts were the order of the weekend. Loads of diverse and relaxed activity on the lake. Spotted this gleaming cruiser ahead.
Family fun all round
A neighbouring boat meanders slowly down the great blue lough
Blue sky, sun and warm heat - we were so blessed with the weekend weather. No rush, just chill and relaxed in another zone - frozen in time.
Loads of sail vessels of all shapes and sized out enjoying the water, this one early on Sunday morning
First overnight moored in a very relaxed Mountshannon, our first night spent a harbour for a very long time, good company, lovely atmosphere and the grub in 'An Cupan Caife' as good as ever. Spent next two nights anchored off Holy Island as it's easier to run the dogs ashore in the dinghy last thing at night and 1st thing in the morning for a run. So chilled out. Feels like we've been away for a week not just 3 nights.
It's a dogs life chilling out on the water - seriously chilled out pets.
Down on derg there seemed to be nothing but harmony and good humour all round, from every concievable type of water user. It was so enjoyeable seeing so many folks enjoying the wonderful lough in so many ways, sailing dinghys, kayaks, pedalos, cruisers, ribs, barges, simming, sail yachts, speed boats, skiers, towing, BBQs, et al.
