Hi there would appreciate any help !!?Buying a boat in the med and use wondering whether anybody would know where there are some mornings on the Costa Brava /Blanca close to airports looking for a reasonable price !! At the moment boat is in Girona st margarita and we live in Birmingham

Leave it in Santa Margarita. The moorings are reasonably priced compared to Empuriabrava and Roses next door. It's handy for the Nautic Centre, one of the best maintenance facilities along that coast and you're 40 minutes from Girona airport or an hour and a half from Barcelona. We're in Empuria but have a private mooring which is cheap compared to the main marina.

How do you go about finding a mooring in Santa Margarita? When we visited we could only find the odd private mooring advertised and nowhere with a reasonable selection (nor with anything our size).

Thanks for any information - we are thinking of moving down that way at the end of the year.

Current availability in most of the Costa Blanca marina's, just depends how much you want to pay. My dad simply had a drive up and down the coast till he found one he liked, ended up just North of Altea, quiet marina, with few facilities but lots of peace and quiet.

Costa Dorada

You've asked about Costa Brava and Costa Blanca, but not the less well known Costa Dorada in between the two. Good harbours in Tarragona, Cambrils, Hospitalet del infante and San Carlos de la Rapita. Charter flights to Reus get you close to all except San Carlos d.l. R. Great sailing, Cambrils has the best seafood restaurants in Spain and a few km inland brings you into the Priorato wine region. What's not to like?
