Cost? To Service a Honda 5HP

Just got the receipt out.

The labour on the service was £105, another £75 on parts and then you have to add engine oil, gear oil, anode and disposal charge giving a grand total of £216.

Unfortunately I'm not mechanically minded and with young family don't have the time either, so I just have to grin and take it.

At that price why bother. run it for years, dont service it and pocket the money. when it plays up sell it and buy a new one with the money you saved.

The flaw in that argument is that it wont "play up" while its sitting doing nothing.
It will "play up" while its being used and
it will fail at the most inconvenient or crucial time when battling against a foul tide in bad weather with wife and kids on board.

No doubt that is how you operate your car ,,,,,, but you can always pull over and call out he AA or a garage to tow it away and send the family on their way by taxi.

No I dont operate my car that way because a service is a fraction of the value of my car. Did you miss my point?:)
