Cost of keeping a boat?

My own costs for the club etc: about £380 per year including mooring. Lift out/in £50, over winter £25. Sorry no moorings available.

Then of course the harbour dues and insurance

Will, everything else you quoted I can relate to ..... but that must be some club you belong to! (perhaps that includes lift-in/out ??).
Hello Vic
Interesting comment on club fees. In fact they are going up by 50 squid PA this month to the 400 squid plus 50 squid boat registration and 50 squid club ammenities. Then there is the 3 monthly "House support Scheme" 150 squid PA which you get back in drinks food etc. There has been a lot of outrage at the cost increases.
There is an option of "associate" memberat about 150 squid PA plus house support 150 squid. But you need senior memebrship for boat registration to race or get a place in the marina. We used to have a slip way (haul out cradle) for bottom painting but this was removed due to environmental protection issues. So boats are taken to other clubs for haul out. People don't haul out for winter. Just for 2 or 3 days. The club does have a large marina with pen/ jetty access type mooring s for about 1500 squid PA or more depending on boat size. plus a free to use launching ramp for trailer boats.
Anyway yes some fear that members will depart in droves. However it still remains one of the cheaper clubs around the Swan River area. Certainly not turning a profit. The club has a total about 1800 members and about 300 of those are senior members. www.efyc.com.au
