Cost for yacht visiting Australia

I hope that by the time we set off round the world we might have email available from at sea, but if we don't, I am fascinated to know how the authorities expect us to e-mail 4 days in advance of our arrival. The only thing I could do would be to e-mail them saying I hope to arrive somewhere sometime before we leave the previous port. Given the vagaries of wind and weather, there is no way one could guarantee an arrival time or date so I rather hope that they would be flexible.

They will accept an e-mail from the likes of Capetown giving the best ETA. Don't forget to arrive with NO fruit or veg on board. One of our club members arrived with one potato and an apple and had to pay a disposal fee.

New Zealand is cheaper!!

There was a good article in a recent Australian yachting cruising magazine about the high costs and bureaucratic difficulties that the Australian Government is imposing on visiting yachts.
The Australian writers complained that this was driving visiting yachts to bypass Australia and go to New Zealand where visiting yachts are welcomed with minimal costs and difficulties. This was seen to be depriving the yachting support industries and tourism as well.
IIRC they also made mention of the excellent yacht repair infrastructure and lower costs of such things in NZ.

I could add that the scenery in NZ is better, the beer is cheaper(absolutely no argument there, beer is pricey in Australia!), the women are fairer and the men are all handsome multi - talented and friendly.
Also, and this is not a small point, the flora and fauna in NZ are not conspiring to kill you at every turn! Unlike Aus, NZ has no snakes at all and the only venomous spiders are rare and only lethal if you are already at deaths door.

As i write this i am in Sydney on one of my bi weekly work trips to the "west island" and in fairness I have to say its not a bad place, Australia.
Cheers

We are planning to leave the carib next year and head towards Oz. I reckon we will be ready for a good long rest by the time we get there, does anybody know how long they let you stay (we are uk nationals) before getting your marching orders?

it's the same if you import a container of household goods, or a car into OZ. EVERYTHING has to be immaculately clean before being loaded; any trace of mud or grime, and the whole lot has to be either destroyed if it's wood, or sterilised. And that is minimum £2000 per container. Meanwhile aircraft and birds come and go ad lib, and invasive species crawl out of the benthic layers and die on the beaches ...

I was under the impression that the whole of Australia is populated by an invasive specie.
