I looking for some feed back from any one who has owned or skippered one of these boats, in either early 32 form or a later 320 model. This is for an article on buying a used example.
I went out on one many years ago and was very impressed by the large woody teak interior for a 32 footer. At sea it rolled a bit and was a little skittish in a following sea. I think most of them had 200 volvos on shafts. I would have prefered outdrives as it would have been faster and handled better. Over all a nice boat which I`m sure the Botnia Targa owes alot of its design features to.
I bought my 2002 corvette last year after spending a long time [2 years]looking for the right boat, it's a fantastic sea boat thats been well documented. I cruised my new boat back from Weymouth to Cardiff a passage of around 20 hours , including rounding lands end and pushing water up the north cornish coast, the boat never faltered and despite some heavy seas for many hours she handled exceptionally well. I considered a Nimbus commander but after testing and comparing both went for the Corvette for the more family orientated layout and safety of the huge wide decks and safe foredeck. She really is a big boat for just 32ft. My advice to anyone looking to buy a second hand Corvette is to look for at least a 2000 model if your budget allows as they seem to be a better build from the current builders Corvette marine. She really is a very nice cruising boat that makes you feel comfortable and safe when out on the water, she also maneuverer's well when berthing despite the wide beam and sizeable superstructure. My overall opinion after getting 100 hours use in my first season is that is was a great choice of boat, already thinking about a newer model.
Only sat on one in a Marina /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I would love to buy one /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif - the space and layout onboard really impressed me, I guess partly a product of being nearly as wide as long /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, but also a lot of credit must go to careful design. (unlike a Grand Banks I was onboard - really quite shocked at how little room, and it wasn't the small one!).
IMO the Corvette looks good and to me has a "timeless" design.....so never going to have that out of date look of many MOBO's.
I don't know why everyone makes such a fuss about the amount of cabin space in a Corvette 32. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
For sure it's got a nice owners cabin aft and two heads, but it's easy to see how they've done it.
The forecabin is tiny, the galley has been stuck in the saloon, and there is no outdoors, you have to sit perched on top of the cabins.
Not knocking it, and I understand why people like them (nice wide side decks, trad looks, that big aft cabin), just don't understand why whenever they're mentioned in the press they're always mystified about how they "have so much room in them".
