Hi

A friend has a Mark II Corribee, Bilge Keel. Now the Bilge keel's appear to be an integral part of the mouldingmissing their ballast, i.e. 2 big holes that disapear below the bilge's. Anyone got any idea's what to fill them up with in order to get the right ballast weight?

Hi
I had a Newbridge Boats MKII Corribee Bilge Keeler - Bought new in 1979 and yes there were deep "Cavities" on each keel. Mine had a few lead ingots loose in each keel - presumably to "balance" depending on weight distribution (gear). However I measured the depth of the cavities and it was considerably shorter than the length of the keel. I assumed that "sealed" ballast had been installed low down as it should be, as I never had any qualms regarding the handling of the boat. I understand from the Corribee Owners Club, some members removed the loose ballast for better light weather sailing especially when club racing.
I used mine for additional storage space (doh).
