My motor boat is mid engine with no access to front or back from the bench seat, What would be correct method to deploy anchor, I can secure anchor just ahead of engine cover or should I be using couple ropes to let it go from front? Thanks for help BD

Would like to see a pic of the boat? What is she?

I deploy mine from the bow, when it comes to recovering I walk the warp back along the side deck and pull it up into the cockpit, its safer that handling it on the foredeck, she's not a big boat so its manageable.

Yes, you do have a problem there. I would rig a second line, with a large thimble spliced into the end, through which your anchor rode can run freely. This second line should be run down through a hole in the deck just behind the stemhead, and back to the cockpit. When deploying the anchor, you can lower it from the side of the boat with the thimble close to hand. Once you have released enough rode, haul on the second line until the rode is leaving the boat from the stem. This is so that your boat will ride with the bow to the wind. In this position it will be most docile and offer the least area to the wind, and thus the least strain on the rode. When you need to recover the anchor, take the strain on the rode and let go the second line to the bow. You will now be able to recover the anchor over the side of the boat.

just a word of warning depending on the transom design of the boat i did see a Beneteau Antares 650 (outboard version so low transom), for sale last year that had been swamped while anchored in Osbourne Bay. They had attached anchor to the stern cleats for some reason... as the boat has an anchor roller at the bow as standard all I can assume is novice stupidity.... but IMHO unless dead calm and only a short stop i would want to attach anchor line to the bow and rig something up to enable this, whether that be with a short strop and stainless hoop that the anchor line can pass through at the bow that you can reach from the helm and secure to the cleat in front of the engine... should be possible without too much imagination.

you get more cooling wind below like this...in hot climes

only in calm weather ....;)
