Correct running temps

Just wondered what the usual running temperature would be on a P50 with VOLVO D 12 675's Mine runs at ~80 degrees on idle and ~86 degrees on plane.
 
That's fine...just seems precariously close to the red on the gauge......which granted, is not the most scientific way of viewing thing. ;)

If you are worried, buy an infra red thermometer from ebay and measure the temperature of the thermostat housing when the boat is planing. The dash board instruments are not always especially accurate (mine are out by 8 degrees) - more an indicator of "normal" and too hot.

Agreed. Both my gauges are out by several degrees compared to the IR readings. The gun in useful for readings all across the engine as well.
