Am considering overwintering on the east coast this year and was thinking of turning right instead of left and going up the Irish Sea, round the Mull and up through the Caledonian Canal and then down the East Coast. Has anyone experience of doing this and if so any words of wisdom on the folly or otherwise of so doing?

Article in the latest PBO.

I have a copy of the PBO book by Roger Oliver "Sailing Around the UK and Ireland" which was clockwise from Portsmouth. A bit OTT but lots of detail.

Some 2ndhand at Amazon

Go for it.

Don't. It's quite crowded enough as it is and the only marina there is rubbish. There's nothing to see and the locals prone to violence.

And he'll just run aground... Plus it'll be pain beating back down channel home with that rig...
