Anybody know the volume of the engine bay for the shaftdrive Corniche as I am trying to work out what size Halon replacements I require?

I know I could measure it but am not able to get down for a couple of weeks and I could do with an idea before then.

Can't use halon anymore, so I'm led to believe. Pity coz min are ok and don't need replacing yet and I'm not bunging them away for powdery jobs.
Size wise, spec if you work on somewhere near 5 to the power of 3 (cant do the little number thing) you should be near the mark. I tend to get ones that are too big for my engine compartment. As in spec'd for a bigger space than I've got.

No Halon after Dec 03 Nick FM200. we just worked out my F36 for this,
1) measure length x width x depth of engine room.

2) measure length x wide x depth of both engines
3) then same if the fuel or water tanks are in engine room.

then deduct 2) 3) & 4) from one

If you have a genny in the lazeratter you have to do the same there.
i.e measure lazerette then deduct genny and or water tank and battery pack

I am sure that the fire extinguisher man I spoke to said not to deduct the volumes taken up by the engines as he said that they would most likely be running during an engine room fire.....???

Never thought about an extinguisher for the genny which is in the lazerette- I spose that it makes sense to put one in there.

Just can't believe the prices of this kit...

Once again I am confused

Having looked at getting involved with flogging these things a while ago (Pyrogen) & refitting the archaic thing on mine, consensus is NOT to deduct machinery volume as gas maybe lost via vents and the engine sucking it in. Also recommendation is that diesels have auto shut down as they'll suck the gas in and probably carry on running!

In your boat 'archive', if you have scale drawings of the boat, you could mesure off with a ruler and do the maths?

Or call Fairline

Also bet you could make a pretty good guess too...knowing the beam, where the height of the floor comes to on you when standing in the bilges and guessing the length of saloon. I pressume as the extinguishers come in 'banded' sizes, you just need to know what size bracket suits the boat?

All the manufacturers state : H x L x W and not to deduct engine space. Why do you believe they are wrong?

That is exactly my understanding ie not to deduct engine space.
