A friend of mine has just bought a Corniche. The battery switches include one labelled Starboard Diode, but we cannot figure out what this is for. Can anyone help?

Has it got twin engines. If it has it might be that the starboard enginges alternater runs a blocking diode to charge 2 banks of betteries. One bank domestic and one engine start. The port engine only charging a engine start battery. If so not the best set up but an easy one to install.
Now tell me its only got one engine! If it has I'm as lost as you!

Two engines, and it sounds as though you are right. I will have another look at the drawings and get back to you if I still have a problem understanding what is going on.
