Hi, we are currently in Korfos and will be passing through the canal in a couple of days. I read some where, but can't find the thread now, that it costs extra at the weekend. Since then have heard from another source that it is the same price at whatever time. Does anyone know a definitive answer
Many thanks

Thank you, from reading it am I right that there will be no pilotage fees for yachts.

There's no pilotage needed for yachts.

The canal entrance is hard to see until close up. Call Corinth Canal Control on VHF11 (if memory serves) before entering. They will tell you to tie up on the quay on the left just inside. Always use spring lines here, big ships coming through cause a big surge here. You pay in the round tower (the control centre). They will tell you when to go, but you'll be after the tripper boats and any commercial traffic. They usually try to get the faster yachts at the front and they'll call you on the VHF all the time to tell you to go faster!

Get ready to cast off as soon as you see small yachts coming the opposite way, they turn the canal around very quickly and they don't give you much time to recover lines and leave. Keep cameras handy too!

We have gone through on a weekday and a Sunday, same horrendous cost. Try to do it around the middle of the day when the sun penetrates right down to the water. Our second passage was around 0800, nowhere near as enjoyable as the first time. Quite chilly, too.

Isthmia Control actually. You pay at the Athens end regardless of which way you are traversing.

Somebody mentioned to me recently that they recall transiting the canal some years ago and that they were told that the fee covered a return trip through the canal if it was undertaken within a certain time span, possibly within a month. Does anyone know if this was the case? Is there any chance that it still is the case? (I think not!)

Anyone know how much it costs this year please? (our boat length 10.4 metres)
Many thanks

You'll need to provide a bit more than your length. Go to the Canal's Web site linked below to use the calculator.

Many thanks for the link, I have saved it for future planning. Just for interest, it seems we fall into Category ST (Foreign pleasure yacht - 9 - 15 metres) and the cost looks to be E23. I hope I am right :o
Thankyou again
