sailorman,

thanks for that - how dull! Have you found an alternative to Corian that does the job? Or are you simply frustrated by the whole business?

There are similar products called crystolan and crystalite - a bit cheaper and possibly harder - but all these materials seem ludicrously expensive. Where are the offcuts we need!

Might be worth having a look @ Homebase, They are stocking Winther Browne Fire surrounds, Heat & scratch resistant, in panel sizes of 930 x 930mm. and 1332x362mm at sensible prices... about 15mm thick.. Very helpful lady on 0208 884 6000. HTH

if you go to http://www.t-klaeusler.ch/products-corian-extra-lights.htm you will see all the available corian.

This website is from the official distributer Switzerland and sells cut offs. You should be able to find the same for GB. Every carpenter here has access to this stuff for building kitchen tops. The minimum thickness sold is 8 mm. It can be glued and repaired similar like wood, but needs some special skills.

If everything fails, ask a company, building the interior of supermarkets. They will know, where to get it from.
