DeWalt is owned by Black & Decker (and Stanley tools owned by B & D). Not sure if any similarities or they purposely position DeWalt differently to B & D in the market.

Makita is far better quality the DeWalt

I know that ni cad is not the battery of choice but now that I am retired, I do not give them the same intensive use, so I recently bought an 18v Makita with 2 ni cad batteries of a dealer on ebay, he had 400 for sale, I paid £55, same thing is on offer in B&Q FOR £99, seems like a nice bit of kit.
