I thought I would give my impression of using Coppercoat in the warm waters of Croatia.
For some incredibly arrogant reason Hanse refused to Coppercoat my new boat in the yard so launched with no af and sailed to our marina base in Punat and had it done there last May 2008. I think they charged over €1000 to do it, plus the materials which I supplied. have Hooka system so this summer spent time wiping the green fuz from the hull whenever I was bored. In September I hauled out for 1 hour to service the maxprop. The hull was clean, a few very small pieces of barnacles, but some "threads" of what I take to be calcium deposit which needed scrapping. All in all, a good result, nothing like the work required with conventional antifoul. I think that Coppercoat is worthwhile, not the least reason being that it doesn't leach so much poison into the sea.
