copper plating?

After reading an article in PBO about applying types of anti fouling to props, it occurred to me that it might be possible to electroplate a propellor with copper to prevent fouling.

This is one for Vyv I suspect.

Is it possible and would it work?

Copper plating can be done........ needs the correct electrolyte though to get a decent coating. Just plating out from a copper sulphate solution won't be good enough.
Commercially it may be done from a cyanide based solution ???

Dunno if it would be effective.

I've done it.

Now use a ultrasonic system which works 100% for me

Can you supply more info on the Ultra sonic system please....and on this note has anyone any feedback on the 'self assembly' kits from Oz that people were fitting a couple of years back?....do they / did they work?

Can you give more details of the article please? This is relevant to a question I asked earlier.

Interesting this months issue but says nothing new, just a report on one product.

The subject has been done to death over the years and there seems to be no coating that gives consistently good results. The basic problem is getting something to stick to a proper that spends much of the time wizzing round. Personally found that Trilux works well on the saildrive housing but quickly wears off the prop. Same with conventional AF on bronze props.
