My copper anti foul is coming to the end of its life, its been very good but its been on nearly 10 years, can i just anti foul over it or do i need to get it all off and start again /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif,i am going to use ordinary stuff this time.

Sorry to disappoint, but the rudder is the one area that seems to be more susceptible to weed growth than anywhere else, suspect its the amount of sunlight it gets.

No problems it just needed a light sand over to reveal a nice bright copper layer before she went in,but i am in a fresh water lake and the copper doesnt seem so effective as when she was in salt, she seems to attract fresh water muscles in clumps here and there, so thought i would try ordinary anti foul,I would agree with Galadriel the rudder did need extra protection on my boat.

I wouldn,t think it needs to come off, but a primer may be worth while, the 'copper coat' is an epoxy base? so for the sake of better adhesion, primer? Bill.

We painted over our coppercoat last year, as it was well 'weathered' we did'nt bother with a primer. As far as I can see it has not come off.
