According to the EA website there are EA moorings around Cookham Lock. I've never seen any boats on permanent moorings around the lock island. Does anyone know where these moorings are?
Thank you.

There have been no base moorings at Cookham in living memory other than the odd over-wintering boat in the head lock cut, lock island side. The moorings on the head of the lock island and in the Odney weir stream have been used by groups and clubs as have the moorings in the Hedsor cut.

There are cunning plans afoot to increase base moorings and, therefore, revenue, at a number of sites but I don't know yet if this is one of them.

That's interesting. The EA office at Shepperton seem the think there are moorings at Cookham so much so that they have accepted an application from me and have confirmed I'm on the waiting list.

Left and right hand?

I, also, am not aware of any base moorings at Cookham although there are overnight moorings both above and below the lock. Why not ask Shepperton where the base moorings are? I, for one, will be interested to hear what they say !

I have asked, back in December. They said they don't keep plans of lock moorings so they passed my enquiry on to the permanent lock-keeper responsible for Cookham. I chased a couple of time but still not had a reply other than the waiting list confirmation.

The only spots that could be available you wouldn't want - under trees with bird droppings galore, no parking and access problems. I suggest you look elsewhere, possibly at Bray, Temple or Hurley.
