We have a shipmate cooker but the oven does not work. It was built by Richmond Ring Company who went out of business about 10 or 12 years ago (I'm told).

Does anyone know of a company who repairs this type of thing?

We have looked at new cookers but the quality is a real disappointment! I've seen better made baked bean tins!...................is it me????

I have heard that Force 10 are good, but OUCH what a price! Or do you really only get what you pay for? (the problem I have with this is that anything 'marine' seems quite poor value for money.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cookers you get what you pay for. The Calor site has access to most of them, and if you can find one of their show rooms they carry a good selection. Force 10 and SMEV are around the best, TechImpex a reasonable medium price, and plastimo . . . . . .

I had a Shipmate paraffin cooker for many years, so I may be able to help if you tell me what the problem is. Mine at least was very well built, all stainless and very heavy. But it was quite old and the later models may not be the same standard.

Hi Jeanne,

It is a Shipmate 883 LPG 2 ring 1 oven (broiler) all stainless built in 1987. We are not sure if the problem is on the pilot light side or the safety valve.

As you say, all stainless and very heavy.

Cheers

I would suggest that you try taking the offending bits to the nearest (Corgi) registered supplier/repairer as I am sure that the parts will be available but then they will need to do the relevant works. Alternativley look on the parts for a name and do a google search for that company.
